Saltwater Fly Fishing Mexico – Yucatán & Baja
Saltwater Fly Fishing in Mexico
From the surf-pounded beaches of Baja to the turquoise flats of the Yucatán, Mexico is fast becoming a must-fish destination for saltwater fly anglers.
In Baja California Sur, roosterfish rule the coast – whether you’re casting from a panga or sight-fishing right off the beach. On the Yucatán Peninsula, Permit continue to draw global attention, with tailing fish on white sand flats, endless Bonefish, and juvenile to giant Tarpon tucked into mangrove-lined lagoons.
Quiet zones like Xcalak, near the Belize border, are gaining prominence. We’ve profiled the area here and will continue to explore lodges and guide options in 2025.
Farther up the coast, Tail Inn Lodge in Punta Herrero has earned an early nod from us as a Permit-focused operation worth watching.
We’ll also be publishing reviews of Mahahual tarpon guides and some DIY options – stay tuned as our coverage expands across Mexico’s most productive saltwater zones.
